I
was once a student like you, and now that I know a bit more I can teach you, but
we are all students and learn from each other, here are the answers to the questions
I am most frequently asked, I invite you to e-mail or call me with any other questions
that you might have !
I
want to learn to dance but do not have a partner, Can I still join a class ?
Many
people do not have partners, but they are all welcome to join, as you enter the
class you will realise there are many like you, nervous, shy and unsure and a
partner is found on the floor. Even if you come to class with your partner we
will
also ask you to switch at times for learning purposes. So singles, couples
and groups are all welcome !
How
can I know if the classes are suitable for me, can I see how you teach ?
Yes,
you can stop by any of our venues and come in to see what we do, please be courteous
and introduce yourself as you enter.
Do
I teach Private Classes ?
I
teach at four venues during a week and so I have a lot of pressure on my time,
usually I cannot; but I have been able to in the past if the date and time is
suitable. Please enquire.
When
can I start ?
Classes start on schedule every
few weeks and you are welcome to sign up at any time. Drop by a venue to see me,
or call, and please check our calendar
for dates !
Is
there a syllabus and what are the Levels and dances we will learn ?
The
syllabus, dances and levels are all described in details here : Click
here for details.
I
have some experience where should I start?
Please
mention this to me when you come in. We will first conduct a brief evaluation
and then we will jointly decide where you should start. We welcome dancers of
all levels and styles.
What
should I wear to class ?
Dress for convenience
and comfort, so you can focus on learning. Dance shoes are recommended since the
wrong shoe can "stick" to the floor and cause your turns to stick, this
can lead to discomfort and sometimes injury to the legs and knees.

Men and
Ladies please, dancing is a form of exercising and you will perspire, please walk
with a hand towel if you tend to sweat a lot, since we often dance close, some
people use mints or breath fresheners to be polite, some even walk with cologne.
You may also want a bottle of water / energy drink.
Please put your phone
phone to discreet levels so as not to disturb your partners.
Dress to impress
for club and party nights.
What
will I learn?
Everything you need to feel
comfortable on the dance floor - so you can have a great time, are able to dance
with anyone, anytime to any salsa and latin as well as other music! We cover basic
structure and techniques dancing with and without a partner. The more you understand
the fundamentals the faster you can develop your own style.
What
if I miss a class ?
We have several venues, please call to make
arrangements to visit one of these and make up within the week.
Space may
be limited so you should call first to book a spot.
Can
i get a refund for missed classes ?
We can only have a limited number
of students in a class and once we accept you into the class, that space is gone.
Since we cannot accept new students after the term starts we cannot offer refunds,
please remember we have venue costs etc
to cover, thank you for understanding.
How
long will it take me to learn to dance well?
Everyone
learns at a different rate which makes this a hard question to answer! Every student
will learn the basic steps and have two or three variations in their first class.
In every lesson you will learn more and have more fun. The best way to learn is
to form a group and practice together, be familiar with the music (listen to Salsa
at home) and practice! This makes all the difference between a fast and slow learner.
We recommend that you dance at least twice a week, attend socials and dance with
everybody!
How
old must I be to start ?
You are never too
old to start and we have had some very young ones also in or classes, this is
something the whole family can do, a team building or family building acitivity
if you will !
